One thing I don't get: the LED set on the front panel. BIOS, RAM, HDMI, DisplayPort - WTH? Yet none for mass storage, network, power?
Um OK, maybe one more tiny gripe: for the option without a discrete GPU, maybe it should be possible to fit an 8-core 140-Watt CPU instead for the same overall TDP? (Though I get that it might require some additional heat-piping...)
The LEDs are used for troubleshooting in case Airtop2 does not start. This is often difficult to diagnose, so the LEDs give indication about RAM detection, BIOS post and which display is connected. The I3M OLED display above presents power, temperature, system load, MAC addresses etc.
The front panel - zero aesthetics. It looks like something made during the 80s. Very disappointing getting such poor industrial design at such a high price. Long standing issue with compulab - hire a decent designer already.
Rads look solid metal, meaning rather poor thermal conductivity. The inner sides should be vapor chambers, still fairly easy to do via extrusion, just apply wick on the hot side and cap the ends, it will do miracles for the heat displacement performance at minimal cost increase.

Any idea who the clients are for these machines? Those are eye-watering prices just to get passive cooling.sandboxboyzs - Friday, February 23, 2018 - link

Looks nice except for the Compulab logo. It's pretty ugly. Is it removable?
